NEWS LETTER

COME AND SEE WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!

In the past two months, there has been a flurry of activities in the Anglican Diocese of Jos.
There was the 3rd session of the tenth synod where the vision and focus of the diocese was rekindled.
The Bishop of Jos and the Archbishop of the Jos Province, the most rev. Benjamin A. Kwashi, asked that all
Christians to ‘contend for the faith’ they have in Christ Jesus. This contention is most critical now in Jos
considering the consistent attacks by Moslems on Christian and Christianity both in Jos and in the northern
state of Nigeria.
Soon after the Synod, there was the Collation of Venerable in the Diocese and the charge to the new
Archdeaconries to be mission minded and to ‘go into the communities and make disciples. Ven. Wilson
Sambo, Ven. Okwereogwu and Ven. Bewerang were collated. The archbishop gave each Archdeaconry to the
end of the year 2009 to report the progress of souls won to Christ and churches established.
The ordination that came soon after the Collation ceremonies was equally praise worthy. To God’s glory. Rev.
Justice Okoronkwo was preferred a canon as the newly ordained deacons and priests were charged to be the
good shepherds, people who have been called to service and not those who will sit to diner with their sheep as
the main course at the table.
The ecclesiastical Province of Jos met in Yola with all the bishops of the north east province of the church of
Nigeria, Anglican Communion.
The meeting addressed the challenges of the Anglican Communion in the region; especially the antagonistic
stance of Islam and challenged the Anglican clergy to be decisive in contending for their faith and standing for
the truth and the gospel. The bishops then went on to set goals for the province and ares to focus on and
consider in order to develop the province.

There were times of celebrations as Mrs Gloria Ladi Kwashi celebrated yet another year of God’s faithfulness.
Rev Alabi and his wife Shade blessed the Lord for their first baby and Rev, Dajur and Michelle walked the isle
to the Alter and chanted their I dos!
The Lord is ever faithful.
PRAYERS
Please do join us in prayers for the Christian in the northern parts of Nigeria who are constantly being attacked
by Moslems and Islamic militants on the slightest opportunity and the flimsiest excuses.
The Moslem propaganda machine was very effective in distorting the reality of the November attacks in Jos in
November 2008, and still in August 2009, when the Moslems sect launched attacks on communities and
government establishment with the ‘boko haram’ chant. A lot of misinformation and cover up is still going on
with the killing of the sect leader in police custody.
We urge you all to pray that the truth be up held in Nigeria as we all fight the corruption and social decay in
the face of poverty and diseases.
