CHRISTIAN INSTITUTE

The Anglican Diocese of Jos holds a unique place in Nigeria, both in terms of geography and also with
regard to the unparalleled mixture of tribes and peoples who live here. The Plateau is a tourist area
and the city of Jos is sited in the hills over four thousand feet above sea level. The climate is good for
study, and Jos boasts of a history of international research dating as far back as 1920. This is a
University city, and also has seminaries belonging to the Evangelical Church of West Africa (Jos ECWA
Theological Seminary) and the Roman Catholic Church (St. Augustine's Major Seminary). Close by is
the interdenominational Theological College of Northern Nigeria (T.C.N.N.) in Bukuru. Staff from the
Religious Studies Department of the University also teach at the Christian Institute.
The Christian Institute is owned by the Anglican Diocese of Jos, is an heir of Anglican tradition and is
based on Anglican practice. However, members of all Christian denominations are welcome to enroll
as students.
The Vision
It is our passionate concern that the church, both as individuals and as the corporate Body of Christ,
should be built up in the knowledge and love of God. Our aim is:
"for the equipment of the saints, for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the
unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness
of Christ." (Ephesians 4:12-13)
